Transvestism

India's obsession with transvestism is nothing new.  Transvestism is a living style where men dress up as women and vice versa. I am sure you had the word 'hijras' in your mind after you read the above line. But actually there is a particular reason why people accept this living style and that is DESIRE. The thing is every man is a woman somewhere and the same goes with the woman. But not a lot of people are aware of this and this is mainly because the society we live in always hid this fact. This is natural and nothing is wrong about someone wanting to explore the feeling of being their opposite gender. A man who is always asked to wear tight fitting pants and manly shoes, don't you think the thought of roaming around in a skirt and flip flops would cross his mind sometimes? What if he feels comfortable in them? What if he feels himself in them? But NO! This is not what the society says. Why? Because then it would be hard to distinguish between the genders.

Dressed like a woman and still with the same attitude

According to the Hindu Mythology, Lord Krishna used to have a Sringara tradition where he used to dress up like a woman, wear a lot of jewelries just to feel good. When our gods had no problem enjoying themselves in every way possible,  then who are we to judge?
If in a shopping mall, everyone is wearing manly leather pants it would be hard for people to recognize each other on the basis of their clothing because everyone will be united. Everyone will feel free and that is not what the society and the religions want. They don't want people to be free.  They want to suppress them as much as they could,  have a control over them , control over people's happiness, control over people's desire. Because once your reach your own level of happiness, you will stop caring about what the society says.
